This fabulous plant has a fabulous name; it’s a Woolly Mullein. More than two meters tall, it has a large rosette of thick leaves around the lower part, and a long tall stem of little yellow flowers above. We didn’t plant it, it’s a weed common in dry waste areas, roadsides, and fields, but it’s a remarkable plant.

The Mullein has unique, distinctive medicinal properties. The flowers can be used to make tea or honey to treat throat infections, colds, coughs, and respiratory problems, and an olive oil infusion using the flowers and leaves creates an ointment to treat burns and rashes.
