Harvesting at the house grove, with good weather and our little team of four working away in the sunshine. The little canino olives are ripe and ready, and again the harvest is excellent with an healthy yield of fabulous oil despite the long months of drought and heatwave, which yes was always something to be concerned about. You never know, but we treat the grove with infinite respect and care.
The trees are healthy and strong, seeded with herbs and flowers kept in long grass, and our location on the hillside of the ancient Lago di Vico volcanic lake, facing down and north west means the soil is rich, the air is fresh, and we catch much of the moisture from the microclimate that rolls down the hillside from the summit of the volcano behind us. There is much to be grateful for, with so many small farms struggling in these last few years.
