The grove at home at sunset in early September. We’ve have lots of rain and some real storms, but the trees are healthy and strong and moving into the last autumn months before harvest some time at the end of October and beginning of November. We had a record harvest last year after pruning extensively the year before, and the rich mix of mulch and compost that we added to the base of every tree last winter gave them an added boost, so we have high hopes for this season too.
Work is continuing on the farm renovations, with our concentration now firmly on the greenhouses and the groves in the front yard, and we use the days of really bad weather to catch up on our administration. We have a big international bulk order of biological olive oil to prepare and box up in the next week, and a much smaller package of our tasty preserves and fennel to send off to a very special friend in Florida as well . There aren’t enough hours in the day!!
