The grove and greenhouses at the farm, looking past the old chicken coop which we are repurposing into a seed store, and towards the front of the property. And yes, this is what months of unrelenting heatwave does to grass. It doesn’t look lush and pretty, but it’s an important and necessary stage in the seasons of a olive grove.
The trees are healthy and robust, and thrive in the heat, and the olive seedlings are growing fast now in the long, hot hours of sunshine, heading towards Olevo’s traditional late harvest at the end of October, early November. It’s convenient too, because it gives us the opportunity to get a good look at the ground itself, prepare it for cultivation, and check the water and electricity pipes.
