Working in the vegetable gardens at home on a hot afternoon, harvesting lettuces, cabbages, chicory, and silverbeet. The sun is unrelenting, the grass is drying out, and the priority is getting the irrigation pipes laid out as soon as possible because we’re currently watering by hand.
There’s also a fat and happy porcupine around here somewhere, quite content after his nightly promenade through the garden, sampling the produce and decimating whole food groups. He especially likes carrots, and though we promote and encourage biodiversity this was not what we had in mind.
