The favino plant cover crop in the grove at the farm, now well above knee height and flowering with beautiful little black and white petals. It’s time to mow and mulch, but the weather has been filthy and we need the ground to dry out a bit before trundling over it with a heavy tractor.

The soil is rich and dark and moist, and the favino will add nitrogen and nutrients before we build our planting rows and lay irrigation between the olive trees in a few weeks time. There’s a lot to do, but the week of rain is perfectly timed and excellent for the work we’re about to start.
