Olives in the nets waiting to be sorted and selected while we work on harvesting the last of the trees. The sun is shining which is always good, and though the mornings have been fresh and chilly we’ve had uninterupted days to work through the grove from top to bottom and around the house with our small team of four.
The harvest has been excellent this year. We’ve gathered a lot of olives, more than ever, and without the battering of the storms we had last autumn just before harvest. The summer months of heatwave and drought will mean we get slightly less oil per kilo this, but that’s entirely to be expected, and offset by just how many olives we’ve harvested, and how carefully we’ve picked every single one!
