Well this is fun! The vegetable garden is absolutely thriving in the August heat now, and we’ve actually been giving them LESS water in the last two weeks, just a short drink in the morning and evening supplemented with our homemade organic witchy brew of nutrients. The corn is almost two meters high, and the chickory, eggplants, beetroot, tomoatoes, and peppers are growing beautifully. Even the WEEDS are loving it!
The heat is unrelenting, but under the thick white plastic in the image is a new section of prepared earth, mulched and laid with organic composts and a thick layer of hay and covered to promote the soils’s rich natural ecosystem of microbes and bacteria according to the principles of regenerative gardening which we follow. After months of incubation, it will be ready for preparation and planting autumn crops at the beginning of September.
