Checking the new irrigation system in the vegetable gardens at home. The weather has been extraordinary; a long, unrelenting, and fierce heatwave that has gone on now for more than a month, and it means we can do only a few hours of work in the morning, and a few more in the late afternoon and early evening at dusk.
We had transplanted the little seedlings from the nursery to the regenerative gardens in June, and they really struggled in the heat at first but are doing well now with a mixture of natural composts and nutrients. The water drip irrigation system we laid down a few weeks ago is incredibly efficient; it uses very little water, and works on a automated timer set only to a short period very early in the morning and again mid evening. It works, and the plants are doing better than we are!
