We’ve recently planted the seedlings from the nursery in the big regenerative garden at home. They include chicory, eggplants, salads, peppers, melons, tomatoes, zucchini, garlic, and various herbs, but they all appear to be struggling in the heat this year, so we’re on it, lavishing them with love and attention and a homemade witchy brew of organic nutrients .
The other smaller garden next to the house, however, is doing well. This is the site of the Great Pumpkin Disaster of a few years ago, when they were sprouting up everywhere and we SWEAR we didn’t plant that many and it’s all we ate for weeks. This year, however, they’re behaving themselves. Before that, though, we had harvest day for the potatoes, with our geologist daughter swapping rocks for dirt for the afternoon to help us out.
